Recently, Mobigater, a Skype to GSM and GSM to Skype gateway, was launched, enabling users to use the Skype service directly from their mobile phone. Mobigater connects via USB to a PC to connect to the Skype VoIP infrastructure and will only work with a SIM card, the same type of SIM as the one you use on your mobile phone.
"MobiGater is a transfering device between your skype account and mobile. Its software has to be settled on the computer running your Skype. In order to use MobiGater you don't have to install any software on your mobile phone or change the way of use. Therefore any type of cell phone can be used."
There is even a software available for Symbian S60 2nd edition powered phones, that allows the user to see his buddy Skype list. The symbian software only comes with the professional office edition of Mobigater, which also features a remote web configuration option.
Mobigator Plus can be purchased for 199 Euro while Mobigator Professional has a price tag of 299 Euro.
