Also, New Super Mario Bros.

One game creator who always gets a lot of trust, support and resources from Nintendo is Shigeru Miyamoto, the developer who managed to almost single handedly build the publisher's biggest franchises.

The E3 Nintendo presentation this year featured him prominently and the company made sure to please its hardcore fans by announcing New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo Wii, a sequel to Super Mario Galaxy and by talking about a new Zelda game, also developed for the Nintendo Wii home gaming console.

Miyamoto recently talked to Nintendo Power and revealed tidbits of information related to all of the above titles. He says that his aim in creating new titles is to make them as accessible and as fun as possible while keeping alive the elements that attracted gamers in the first place.

When it comes to the new Wii-bound Zelda game Miyamoto is pretty tight lipped, only saying that “I don’t think it’s going to be that radically different,” which can mean a lot of things but is probably aimed as a reassurance that the series will not be dumbed down in any way.

Regarding New Super Mario Bros. Wii, it seems that the title will try to emphasize the multiplayer experience, which sees as many as four players tackling the challenges of the game together. The game mode will have a competitive element and death will be handled in a way that benefits the players: as long as another character is still alive, the dead one will simply respawn at the same location. And let's not forget that New Super Mario Bros. Wii is set to be the first title to feature “Demo Play.”

It appears that Super Mario Galaxy 2 will be tougher to complete than the initial game in the series and will see Yoshi get new abilities and costumes, while Mario will mainly have the same powers. Also, Miyamoto might be aiming to implement some sort of bullet time effect that slows down time (only without the actual bullets).
