Quite proud of his creation

Shigeru Miyamoto is one of the most quintessential gaming icons in the history of videogames. Responsible for massive cult hits like Mario and Zelda, the chief of videogame design at Nintendo has gained a lot of fans who can hardly wait for their favorite designer to come up with new and innovative titles. Such was the case with his latest creation, Wii Music, Nintendo's ticket to the ever-expanding and very popular music game genre.

Just launched in Japan and North America, the game has sold very well and proves the fact that anything made by the famous Japanese designer will be a guaranteed success. Recently, at a press conference in San Francisco, Miyamoto talked about his latest creation and expressed his enthusiasm regarding it. He said that, after working very hard on games, once they were launched, he rarely played them, because they didn't interest him anymore, but with Wii Music, it was a whole different story.

"Usually after spending a long time working on a game, I'm not really in a rush to run back home and play it again. But for the first time, Wii Music is drawing me in like that. My personal definition for what makes a game fun is whether or not when you're not playing the game, you're thinking about playing the game. That to me tells me it's a very fun game."

He then went on to tackle the subject of adding more mainstream songs to the current library of tracks for Wii Music. "We wanted the music to appeal to a very broad audience and if you look at the mass market, probably not nearly as many people would be as familiar with NES/SNES songs. We wanted to focus on songs that people will know by ear, because that in and of itself is going to make it easier to play and then improvise the songs."

Sure enough, considering how well the Nintendo Wii sold and how this game appeals to a very big market, it's safe to say that it will definitely sell in the upcoming holiday season.
