It seems that Mitsubishi electric has been quite busy in its labs, as it has managed to put together a display solution that has a special segment of the market in mind and will debut in December.

Coming to break the so-called 'monotone' that all the consumer-oriented monitors and TVs have set, Mitsubishi issued a press release revealing its newest LCD.

To be more specific, the company has come up with an industrial display module, a liquid crystal display module that is.

It has a diagonal of 9 inches and is of the TFT variety, its resolution being QHD, meaning 960 x 540 pixels.

This means half of the Full HD resolution and aspect ratio, which allows video of this type of be converted without image degradation.

It also comes with a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 and horizontal/vertical viewing angles of 170 degrees, plus 72% color gamut on NTSC standards.

There is also a response time of under 8ms, for limited after image and overall sharp motion capability.

Furthermore, the use of LED backlights ensures not just low power draw and image clarity, but also a long lifespan, of 100,000 hours (has an inverter-free white LED backlight unit).

Other specifications include a LVDS 8bit electrical interface, 16.77 million colors (8bit/color), operation temperature of -20 to 60 degrees Celsius, storage temperatures of -20 to 70 degrees and a luminance of 400 cd/m2.

Finally, the module measures 217.0 (W) × 130.0 (H) × 9.5 (D) and is mostly intended for use as a monitor in broadcasting.

“There is considerable demand for studio video monitors incorporating TFT LCD modules that are compact but also capable of displaying high resolution videos smoothly and clearly,” states the press release.

Starting December, 2010, 2,000 units will be made each month, while shipments will commence on December 1.
