Video game developer DICE, publisher Electronic Arts and comic book creator Dark Horse Comics are announcing that they are working on a new limited series called Mirror's Edge Exordium, which is designed to explore the backstory of Faith and to set up the events of the new Catalyst title.

At the moment, each issue is set to have 32 pages and will cost gamers 3.99 dollars or Euro, and the first one will be introduced on September 9.

Mirror's Edge Exordium is written by Christofer Emgard, the current narrative director at DICE, and artists Emgard, Mattias Haggstrom, Robert Sammelin, Henrik Sahlstrom, and Erik Persson will deliver the art for it.

The focus on Faith means that the comic is the perfect way to give gamers a glimpse of the story of the coming video game, while also expanding their knowledge of the universe.

Dave Marshall, the senior editor at Dark Horse, states, "Set in a world as iconic as it is visually stunning, with one of the most compelling and unique protagonists in popular culture, Mirror’s Edge is tailor made for great comics. It’s an awesome opportunity to be able to kick off our partnership with DICE with this series!"

Exordium will not be needed to understand the story delivered by Catalyst.

The new Mirror's Edge will be shown at E3 2015

The reveal of the new title took place earlier in the week, and DICE was very careful to explain that this was not a reboot or a sequel, but a new take on the mechanics of the original.

The core parkour mechanics of the new Mirror's Edge Catalyst will be improved, and there will be bigger stories to explore, all of them based on the world that fans already know.

DICE also says that it wants to make sure that veterans of the first title will find the elements of the game interesting, while at the same time trying to find ways to expand the appeal of the game.

The first Mirror's Edge was critically acclaimed but failed to generate a lot of sales in 2008.

The new Catalyst will get more details, probably linked to the gameplay mechanics, during E3 2015.
