Over time, the people over at Mio Technology have come up with quite an impressive line-up of GPS-based devices, including a very large number of PNDs (personal navigation devices) targeting all the specific segments of the consumer electronics market. However, it would seem that the company has yet another surprise in store for all the drivers out there, as it has revealed (actually, the device simply popped up on the Mio website) a new and impressive GPS navigator, dubbed DigiWalker C728, which offers users a whopping 7-inch display, as well as multiple multimedia playback features.

The device is built around a 20-channel SiRF Star III receiver, which helps it to provide very accurate position readings. Furthermore, it provides the most common navigation features most users expect from a device of this type, as well as some extras, as for example the possibility of viewing routes, upcoming turns, POIs and real-time traffic information simultaneously on the C728's split-screen interface display.

And since we're on the subject of the display, it's worth mentioning the fact that the DigiWalker C728 features a 7-inch touchscreen TFT LCD, capable of attaining a maximum resolution of 800 x 480 pixels (QVGA) in landscape orientation. Moreover, the PND provides a large number of connectivity options, starting from the SD/MMC memory card slot up to Bluetooth and USB 2.0.

As mentioned earlier, the device also incorporates a full-fledged portable multimedia player, which allows users to view photos, listen to music in MP3 format or even view videos. Moreover, the DigiWalker C728 features built-in speakers, as well as an earphone jack, which means that the users can enjoy their favorite shows without disturbing the people around them.

The device from Mio also incorporates a Samsung 2443 CPU running at 400Mhz, 2 GB of ROM memory and 64 MB or RAM memory, all of these components being used for running the device's Win CE .Net 5.0 operating system and the MioMap navigation software. Moreover, the whole thing is powered by a 1200mAh rechargeable Lithium battery cell, which provides an average functioning time of around 2.5 hours.

Unfortunately, there's no info available on the new PND's price or availability, but it will most likely be quite an expensive piece of technology, taking into account the features it can provide.
