First shown at CES 2007, the Mio DigiWalker C520 packs a lot of features, including the navigation thing, into what can be called a mini multimedia center with GPS capabilities.

As Mio informs, the new GPS device boasts several "firsts" for the DigiWalker lineup, including a large 4.3-inch split-screen display, text-to-speech driving instructions and enhanced Bluetooth capabilities.

The designers have paid a lot of attention to the unit's main feature, the GPS navigation, the DigiWalker C520 being able to display additional information about upcoming intersections or provide dynamic lists of approaching point of interest locations as defined by the user. For example, you can set the C520 to show all upcoming movie theaters, gas stations or Italian restaurants.

Mio also points out that the C520 gives clearer voice prompts than other units, the unit being able to call out actual street names in English.

The C520 offers a wide range of Bluetooth options and when paired with Bluetooth-compatible cell phones it uses the built-in speaker and microphone to enable hands-free phone calls while driving. Most Bluetooth stereo headsets are supported for a complete wireless entertainment experience when using the built-in digital video player. And for the ultimate road trip, the C520 syncs with many Bluetooth-enabled car stereo systems so an entire digital music library can be enjoyed through the car's speaker system.

The Mio DigiWalker C520 comes pre-loaded with U.S. and Canadian maps, more than 6 million point of interest locations, and is ready to operate in minutes with no computer set-up required, the press release says.

"As the form and function of GPS continues to evolve, we feel wide is where it's at," said Kiyoshi Hamai, North American sales director, Mio Technology Ltd. "Many of our customers are asking for enhanced displays, and we felt we had to go bigger just to fit in all the new features of the C520."

The MSRP for the Mio DigiWalker C520 is $399.95 and the device is already available in stores.
