Apogee Electronics fires up the wire for Mini series

No, it's not about the Mini-Me in the ?I Spy"-type motion pictures but about the Apogee Electronics (again, a shadow of a rant: every producer feels like it's his utmost duty to make some) interfaces.

The Mini-Me, mini MP and Mini-DAC have been designed with extreme portability in mind: as a matter of fact, there's nothing too much of a special thing they do, except for delivering hi-quality audio signal conversion AND be portable. Their small dimensions make them just great for audio professionals; just stuff them in a bag and you're on the go!

No matter where and in connection with which recording software, the Minis will make sure your signal is digitized to the high level of quality today's audio requires. Logic, Nuendo, Digital Performer or whatever recording software may you choose to work with will "gladly" accept the signal feed from these devices.

And since the FireWire connectivity is becoming more and more some sort of new standard when it comes to digital interconnectivity between various hi-tech pieces of equipment, Apogee Electronics have decided to make a FireWire optional card for their Mini series.

Nothing actually changes as far as the Minis are concerned, except that inside them there will be a new component, interfacing FireWire. This results not only in a better signal-flow in your recording equipment but as well in an almost 30 percent price growth: all usual Minis cost $795 each while the FireWire card-loaded versions sell for as much as $995 each.

Now, if you think that the FireWire connectivity is one thing you can't live without any longer and the improvement its use could bring in your daily work would be worth spending some additional $200, then go for it!
