Redstone: avid fans of Minecraft - Pocket Edition crave it. Used for crafting and brewing, Redstone is a mineral with magnetic and conductive properties which enables gamers to make circuitry and compasses.

And it won’t be long until Minecraft - Pocket Edition 0.8.0 will be released with said ore, as well as some bug fixes, according to the Minecraft Forums. Apparently the bug fixes can wait, but Redstone can’t.

Everyone is begging Mojang to deliver, and recent activity suggests it will be rolling out before Christmas.

The feature has already been confirmed by Mojang for the Minecraft - Pocket Edition 0.8.0 update, but according to the official Gamepedia page, players won’t be able to place it as Redstone Dust until the release of version 0.9.0.

According to the game’s wikia age, “Redstone is a fictional mineral with magnetic and conductive properties, as it is used in all circuitry and compasses. Redstone ore is most commonly found within 10 blocks of bedrock.”

Mojang says players will be able to obtain Redstone from Redstone Ore, which is already in the game and currently has no use except for illumination in mines.

Other new features and / or tweaks prepared for Minecraft - Pocket Edition 0.8.0 include minecarts, rails, powered rails, beets, carrots, pumpkins, carpet, stone walls, pumpkin pie, sponges, metal bars, and a completely new inventory and crafting setup mimicking the PC version.

Minecraft - Pocket Edition 0.8.0 will also include 3D clouds, sideways logs, birch, jungle, spruce planks and stairs, and a bug fix involving TNT (not ignited by fire).

A video demonstration of how Redstone can be used is embedded below. In the meanwhile, if you’re new to Minecraft, you can download Minecraft - Pocket Edition version 0.7.6 or Minecraft - Pocket Edition 0.2.1 (Lite) for free on your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.
