Minecraft: PS3 Edition has finally received release dates, namely December 17 for North America, and December 18 for Europe and other PAL regions.

Minecraft impressed millions of players on the PC platform a few years ago and it soon reached the Xbox 360 consoles, where it also enjoyed a huge success.

Now, after selling 13 million copies on PC and 10 million on Xbox 360, Mojang has finally confirmed that the PS3 edition will debut tomorrow, December 17, in North America, and on December 18 in Europe and other PAL regions like Australia or New Zealand.

Unfortunately, the PS4 and PS Vita editions of Minecraft, which were also confirmed some time ago, still don't have actual release dates, as Mojang notes that work is still needed on both versions, so fans should expect them to debut in 2014.

In order to further explain a few things about Minecraft on PS3, a special FAQ was posted on the PS blog by Mojang's Owen Hill.

Q: Does Minecraft: PS3 Edition feature everything from the other versions of Minecraft? A: Minecraft: PS3 Edition comes with everything present in other console versions. They’re pretty much identical to play, and will be developed in tandem from now on.

Q: Will Minecraft: PS3 Edition feature DLC texture packs and skins? A: Downloadable skins and texture packs will be available from PSN soon after release.

Q: Will there be PlayStation-specific content? A: PlayStation-specific skins and texture packs would be cool! Fingers crossed, eh?

Q: Will Minecraft: PS3 Edition feature Remote Play or compatibility with the PS4 or PS Vita editions? A: We don’t know yet, sorry. We’ll let you know as soon as we do.

Q: Does Herobrine feature in Minecraft: PS3 Edition? A: Probably not.

Minecraft is currently in development for the PS4, PS Vita, and Xbox One platforms. Until those versions get detailed, check out a video of the PS3 edition in action below.
