Though she was recently saying she was going to put acting on hold while she focused on her family, Milla Jovovich may be coming back to work sooner than expected, as she has just confirmed a fifth “Resident Evil” film.

“Resident Evil: Afterlife,” or the shorter version, “RE 4,” opened this weekend and literally killed it at the North American box-office, with over $70 million in ticket sales.

Speaking with NY Mag’s Vulture section the other day, the actress, who plays lead female Alice in the franchise, says that there’s no doubt a fifth film will also be happening soon.

In fact, it may happen sooner than fans of the franchise believes, as director Paul W.S. Anderson is already working on the story, for which he will want more input from fans this time.

“This new Resident Evil is the first one to ever open at No. 1 worldwide. It’s the biggest movie in the franchise,” Milla says of “Afterlife.”

As such, a follow-up is almost a given. “So we’re definitely going to make another one,” the leading actress adds.

However, as opposed to the 4 previous films, for the fifth, the entire team will listen to feedback from the fan community, making it a more interactive experience.

“We’ve been talking to a lot of fans on Twitter and stuff, so it’s probably going to be one of the first movies where we really talk to fans to see what they want, and what characters they want to see. It’s going to be a more interactive process,” the actress explains.

However, should they listen to what fans have to say, perhaps they would stop making “Resident Evil” films because many fans of the game really hate the film franchise, ScreenCrave writes.

“A good chunk of the game’s fanbase doesn’t like the film series because it has very little to do with its source material. Sure there are zombies, and characters that we recognize but the storylines are picked apart and ripped to shreds,” the e-zine writes.

“When we attended Comic-Con this year, a guy stood up during the Resident Evil panel and yelled, ‘You ruined my favorite game!’” the movie-oriented publication writes, before launching into an argument of how the film don’t respect chronology as regards certain characters.

Whether Anderson and the people behind the “RE” film franchise will pay more heed to such details from now on remains to be seen.

As of now, this is all we’ve got on the fifth installment but do make sure you keep an eye on this space for more.
