The naughty Miley Cyrus has a special relation with fashion designer Marc Jacobs, and this relationship has recently been turned into a partnership, as Miley has just become the new face for their 2014 spring-summer catalog.

The former Disney princess ditches her shocking image for a classy, more timeless look, as she appears in the ad for the 2014 spring-summer campaign, debuted on Twitter. The photographer is David Sims and he decided to show off a darker side to the pop star.

Though it's a beach scene, the lighting and general colors indicate a dark mood, which is also transposed on Miley's face, appearing pensive and distraught.

Two other models are featured in the ad, but while one is lying face up in the sand near Mileyand the other stands in the distance, they both maintain a dead-eye look.

Marc Jacobs explains the idea behind the shoot: “We wanted this beach with girls kind of sulky and broody, and we thought it would be cool if it was Miley with what could be two friends, feeling distant and quite dark.”

Up until now, the fashion designer has worked with German photographer Juergen Teller, but for this project they had to go with David Sims, as Teller would not collaborate with Miley. Jacobs confirmed, “I have worked with Juergen for years and love him as an artist. He just didn't want to shoot her.”

Regardless, the fashion house is happy with their choice. Jacobs explained that, “We all just love her and her entire being, her energy, her talent, her intelligence, everything. There's nothing I don't like about her. She is just genuine and very natural.”

This is not the first Jacobs-Cyrus collaboration. The two have worked together before on his “Protect the Skin You're In” movement, which was aimed at raising cancer awareness. At the time, Miley appeared in a T-shirt bearing the designer's name.
