It was all supposed to be an innocent kiss, or at least a publicity stunt when Miley Cyrus spotted Katy Perry during her concert and leaned in for a kiss. It was all a little bit awkward because as Miley tried to slip Katy the tongue, the latter drew back an in shock and ran away screaming.

Later, she talked about the incident on Australian TV and joked that Miley wanted to take things just a bit too far for her own taste. “I just walked up to her to give her like a friendly girl kiss, you know, as girls do,” she said on the interview and then explained that the reason for her quick pulling out was the tongue “God knows where that tongue has been.  We don't know.  The tongue is so infamous!”

The matter seemed dead in the water for a couple of days, but yesterday Miley took to Twitter to address the issue of the degree of cleanliness of her tongue. “Girl if ur worried abt where tongues have been good thing ur ex boo is ur EX BOO cause we ALL know where THAT [tongue] been.”

In case you missed that, let us spell it out for you. Yes, Miley did go there! She just made a reference to Katy's alleged breakup with beau John Mayer. We say alleged because it hasn't been confirmed officially, but by this point it's common knowledge since they haven't been spotted together out in town for some while now and Mayer has been seen partying with other girls.

While this is a low blow even for Miley, Katy didn't seem to take offense at this evident snub and let it roll casually off her back as she tweeted back “Oooo gurrrl I'm gonna give you the BIGGEST spanking when I see you in the UK bb!” making it sound like she didn't mind the acid remark about her ex-boyfriend.

Granted, Cyrus did try to soften her initial blow with a second tweet which featured a drawing of them two kissing, made after the famous photo taken during the concert with the caption “Dontchyouuuu act like you didn't lurvvvvv it,” which would translate in normal English as “don't you act like you didn't love it.”

It remains to be seen if Katy and Miley are eventually going to go to war with one another, but at this point it looks like Katy is prepared to overlook Miley's public and offensive dis.
