After a little more than a year of dating, singer and actress Miley Cyrus and boyfriend Liam Hemsworth put an end to their romance, as his publicist confirms for several media outlets, including Us Magazine.

Though reports of the split go back to at least a couple of months, word on the street also said the two were very much in love and even had more serious plans, like getting married once Miley turned 18.

Her rep remains mum on the latest surfaced report that she and Liam are history, but, luckily, his publicist is more talkative, telling the mag that his client is “single.”

“Miley Cyrus is back on the market. The teen queen, 17, has split with Aussie actor Liam Hemsworth, Hemsworth rep tells UsMagazine. (Cyrus’ rep had no comment.)” the publication writes.

As of now, it is not yet known what caused the rift and whether the two remain friends, although, judging by Miley’s statements of earlier this year, it’s almost impossible for them not to.

Speaking with Parade magazine a few months ago, the Disney star was saying that Liam, whom she’d met on the set on the critically panned “The Last Song,” had become her best friend, the one person who made her life better.

“[Liam has] become my best friend in the whole wide world. I love him. He really respects me for who I am because coming from Australia, he really didn’t know me as the celebrity I am here,” she said.

“I got to tell him about myself on my own terms and my own way. He had no preconceived notion of who I was supposed to be,” Miley added at the time.

Before that, she talked about her first impression of the gorgeous Australian actor, explaining how she was so moved when he opened the door to her – a gesture that, as it easy as it may seem, not may boys would bother to do for a girl.

In later interviews, Miley added that part of the reason why her relationship with Liam was so special is because he got along so wonderfully with her entire family.
