Miley Cyrus has gotten herself some new ink: a new tattoo on her ribcage, believed to represent a dreamcatcher that will protect her brothers, of which she showed a glimpse the other day, while running errands.

This is the singer’s fifth small tattoo, as People magazine also notes. It will most certainly not be her last, since she seems to have taken quite a fancy to body art, it is being said.

A friend of the star talked to People about the meaning of the new ink and, just like with the previous four, there’s a very deep connection that Miley feels to the artwork.

“It’s a picture of the dreamcatcher that hangs over her bed with four feathers to represent her four brothers and sisters,” the friend explains.

“The dreamcatcher is to protect them,” she adds of how Miley feels of Brandi, Trace, Braison and Noah.

The Disney star has another four small tattoos all over her body, including the phrase “Just Breathe” underneath her breast, on her ribcage, the word “LOVE” inside her ear, and one small cross and heart on her finger.

“All of Miley’s tattoos have a deep meaning to her. They all represent family and friends close to her,” the source says.

Indeed, this is something that Miley herself has said repeatedly in interviews about her newfound love of body art.

The tat with “Just Breathe,” for instance, is meant to remind her that she’s never to take life for granted, including small things like the ability to breathe.

One of her closest friends died of cystic fibrosis and she got to see what it was like not to be able to breathe – so she got this tattoo as a reminder.

The word “LOVE” inside her ear is her way of saying she will not listen to negativity anymore; sometimes “what you only need to hear is all the love,” she said at one point.

The meaning of the heart and cross on her pinkie is obvious.
