Miley Cyrus resumes her Bangerz tour on May 2, after emergency hospitalization for allergic reaction to antibiotics

Earlier this month, former Disney star Miley Cyrus was rushed to the hospital for what was rumored to be an allergic reaction to antibiotics she’d been taking for a bout of the flu. As celebrity bloggers sneered that this was just a fancy way of saying she’d been smoking too much weed or doing who-knows-what, Miley’s rep confirmed that this was the actual reason for which she’d been hospitalized.

Things were even worse than fans at home were initially led to believe because, while Miley was tweeting cutesy pics from the hospital bed and trying to keep up appearances, she was feeling very bad.

She tells Ryan Seacrest in her first interview since the health scare that the “had basically been poisoning [herself] with something [she] didn’t know [she] was really scary allergic to.” You can hear the entire interview in the player embedded below.

While “scary” is how Miley would best describe the experience, she admits that she had some fun because she got to take her first ambulance ride. However, the days that came next were quite “boring” because she had nothing to do.

“I was crying because I was so bored. I’m laying here hooked to all these machines. Every two hours, some woman comes in and pokes me with a needle, just miserable… I’m just laying here with nothing to do… My sister went and bought me a bunch of DVDs … Clueless and The Shining … I ended up doing way too much online shopping and whatever they had me on to make me not in pain, I made some very questionable choices on what I bought!” Miley reveals.

Doctors have told her that she’s still on alert for 5 to 27 days, but she swears she’s been feeling good again. In fact, Miley’s health has improved so much that she’s ready to resume her much mediated Bangerz tour, for which she had to cancel several dates because she was in the hospital.

Miley’s stay in the hospital comes shortly after another setback in her life, the loss of her favorite dog, which left her very emotional and in pain. In the shows before the emergency hospitalization, Miley would sometimes cry while performing a song that reminded her of the pooch and even had a giant inflatable statue of it erected on stage, so that she could sing to it.

And that, believe it or not, was the least “scandalous” thing Miley did on stage since the tour started. Controversial as it is, Bangerz is selling very well, proving that, regardless of the negativity, Miley’s change in image and sound is being embraced by her fans.
