Miley Cyrus is out to make a name for herself, one that is miles away from any connection to Hannah Montana. Hopefully, her latest film, “The Last Song,” will do just that, even if that means putting her music career on second place. In the latest issue of Parade magazine, the former Disney child star opens up about looking forward to saying goodbye and good riddance to Hannah Montana.

Miley is also featured on the cover with a huge caption that reads “I Know Who I Am Now,” so the article in the pages of the magazine holds few surprises about her plans for the future. In short, Miley wants to become a good actress and she obviously can’t do that than by breaking free from the Hannah Montana image. When she was little, she dreamed of one day becoming so famous everybody would know her, but that’s behind her right now.

“What I am sure about is I’m going to rejoice and be happy to finally not have to be… well, to not be somebody I’m not exactly. As I’ve grown into it, I’ve grown out of it. When I was 12, I thought, I want to be famous all the time! I want everybody to recognize me! I can’t breathe looking like that anymore,” Miley says of the Hannah Montana image, which she’s overgrown like a dress that no longer fits. The time was right for a change, she says.

“A friend came by the set one day and said, ‘You don’t look very happy.’ I said, ‘I’m feeling claustrophobic in all these frills. I hate being thought of as a product. I am not a doll, and people want to treat me that way… I’m older now. I have an opinion. I have my own taste’,” the singer and actress further explains. Of course, that’s not to say that she’s not thankful for the wonderful opportunity that she got with the part – she’s only saying she wants to move on and prove she can be someone else as well, by taking as varied roles as possible in the future.

Nevertheless, even though she’s looking to expand her career in movies, Miley is not yet ready to break free completely from her previous work, as she said in a recent interview we also informed you about. She will put music second on the list of priorities in order to hone her acting skills, but, at the same time, she hopes she’ll be able to do so without losing “the Miley factor.”
