Miley said she wanted to make history with raunchy performance

Landing on the cover of the US Vogue is a dream for many a celebrity, including Miley Cyrus. However, for the time being, she stands exactly zero chances of getting it – and it’s all because of her tasteless twerking at the MTV Video Music Awards 2013.

During the awards show, Miley performed with Robin Thicke on his “Blurred Lines” and danced around in the tiniest outfit imaginable, while making obscene gestures.

The backlash against her for the routine hasn’t stopped since.

According to the Daily Mail, Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief at the magazine also known as the “fashion bible,” didn’t appreciate Miley’s little act either.

In fact, she disliked it so much that she’s decided to nix plans to have her on the cover.

“The 20-year-old was photographed for the December issue as editor-in-chief Anna Wintour had been eager to champion her as a new fashion icon,” the Mail writes.

Realizing the damage the Miley backlash will do to her image as an emerging fashion girl, Wintour eventually decided to cut her losses soon, and go without her.

“Anna found the whole thing distasteful. She decided, based on Miley’s performance, to take the cover in a different direction,” an insider reveals for the same publication.

A few days after the much mediated performance, Miley talked about what prompted her to come up with something so shocking: in her mind, she “wrote history” because she got everyone to talk about her.

Of course, in saying this, she’s not thinking that most of those talking about her have nothing good to say, because they found the whole thing tasteless, classless, and offensive.

In other Miley-related news, she might have been banned by Wintour, but she did get to shoot a video with Terry Richardson, for her latest single “Wrecking Ball.” It too is extremely racy.
