14 DAY TRIAL // Miley Cyrus is growing up and, naturally, she also wants that to be mirrored in the music she makes and the videos she comes out with. Her latest, for the single “Can’t Be Tamed,” came out the other week and, safe to say, few were those who saw the transformation of Miley with kind eyes, as most believed it was too much too soon. Speaking with MTV, the singer herself says fans have nothing to worry because the vid has the stamp of approval of her parents.
In “Can’t Be Tamed,” Miley is shown as some exotic bird creature with huge, black wings, cages for the viewing pleasure of an elite bunch who presumably paid a lot of money to see just that. There are some suggestive dance moves, together with outfits of the kind Miley has never worn before, which has made some say out loud that she’s still too young to alter her look like this. It’s all like a storm in a glass of water, Miley says.
“My mom was on set. And my dad loves it, because I think my dad was thinking I was a little crazy as I was writing it. When you see it, they were so proud of the treatment I came up with,” Miley says. “I think it definitely shows a change of what people remember me as, but it’s not trying to not be me. I didn’t want to be just a character. I wanted to be myself and just in a bird-like form in the way I dressed,” the singer adds, stressing that the video is perfect for the stage in life she’s reached now.
In the same interview, the star also says that this is just the beginning of a wonderful journey, both for her and the fans. Upcoming projects include the album “Can’t Be Tamed,” out on June 22, movies, “Hannah Montana” and merchandise, and, even if she stated the contrary a while back, more music. That is to say, critics who found only bad things to say about “Can’t Be Tamed” would better save their breath because more might be on the way.
“I think my fans will be excited to know they’ve got more to look forward to. It’s not just gonna be [this]. We’ve got another season of the show [‘Hannah Montana’], which I think people are excited about that. I’m working on a movie this summer. I think [my fans have] a lot to look forward to in music as well,” she explains.
