Miley Cyrus says she was misquoted about Rebecca Black, claims she “loves” her

Miley Cyrus doesn’t hate Rebecca Black and Justin Bieber, despite her earlier comments that no one should become an “artist” thanks to YouTube. In a recent interview, the Disney star backtracks and explains how she’s been misquoted.

As we also reported at the time, Miley caused quite a media frenzy when she said that she didn’t agree with the ongoing trend of making “artists” of unknowns on YouTube overnight.

E! Online caught up with her over the weekend at the Kids’ Choice Awards 2011 and asked her to detail her previous statement, which, surprisingly, she denied altogether.

“I am a fan of Rebecca Black. I love Rebecca Black. I just got misquoted. I think she’s great,” Miley said, denying that she was referring to Black when she said she shouldn’t be calling herself an “artist.”

In fact, Miley loves Rebecca so much that she even sings her infamous first hit, “Friday,” when she’s driving – and there’s video evidence out there, just waiting to come to light online.

“I actually have this really embarrassing video that my sister has on her phone, and I’m just waiting till the day that she puts it on YouTube,” Miley says.

“It’s me driving, singing Rebecca Black and my hands are not always on the wheel while I’m singing the song. Not so good,” she adds.

The initial comment sounded something like this: “It should be harder to be an artist. You shouldn’t just be able to put a song on YouTube and go out on tour.”

She wasn’t referring to just Rebecca Black but also to Justin Bieber. Seeing how, until not long ago, Miley claimed to be his friend, this prompted many to call her a hypocrite.

Also then, Miley said that she didn’t (and would never) lip-synch because she’d rather she was known as a bad singer than as one that would only mouth the words to her song when on stage.
