Mila Kunis defends Natalie Portman, says she did most of the dancing for “Black Swan”

Ironically in time for the DVD release of the Oscar-winning drama “Black Swan,” actress Mila Kunis has issued a statement in the defense of Natalie Portman, who has been accused by profession ballet dancer Sarah Lane of lying for her Oscar.

The controversy began a short while ago, when Portman’s fiancé said she did about 85 percent of the dancing in the film.

Millepied also did some choreography for “Black Swan,” which would mean he knows what he’s talking about. Not really, Sarah Lane said, claiming she was Portman’s body double that she (Portman) only did about 5 percent of the dancing.

Mila Kunis is now chiming in as well, calling Lane a liar and taking Portman’s side in the matter, as also did the movie studio and director Darren Aronofsky.

“Natalie danced her [backside] off,” Kunis says in a statement released to Entertainment Weekly, rubbishing Lane’s claims that Portman is only taking credit for something she didn’t do.

“I think it’s unfortunate that this is coming out and taking attention away from [the praise] Natalie deserved and got,” the actress adds.

There’s also the question of how open Natalie has been about the challenges of the role and how she never said she did the most complicated dance routines – which were performed by a professional, Lane in this case.

“She’ll tell you [that], no, she was not on pointe when she did a fouetté [turn]. No one’s going to deny that. But she did do every ounce of every one of her dances,” Mila explains.

“[Lane] wasn’t used for everything. It was more like a safety net. If Nat wasn’t able to do something, you’d have a safety net. The same thing that I had — I had a double as a safety net. We all did. No one ever denied it,” the actress says.

While all this is going on, Natalie has been keeping mum on the topic – not that she needs to say anything when she has so many people speaking out for her.

A video of how the facial replacement was done for some of the most difficult dance scenes has surfaced. Check it out here.
