Someone must have gotten between The Situation and his tanning bed because he went ballistic in a tanning salon called The Boca Tanning Club in Middletown, New Jersey. Reports are coming in today that the reality star made famous by the show “Jersey Shore” was subsequently arrested and charged with simple assault.

Detective Lt. Steve Dollinger confirmed that police was called in with an emergency 911 call at 2:10 pm on Tuesday, June 17, due to a “fist fight,” and Sorrentino was booked as a result of the confrontation. Later he was released on a $500 (€368) bail. There hasn't been a trial date set yet.

TMZ has photos of Sorrentino after the attack, showing him with a hurt right hand and a big cut underneath his right eye, which is going to develop into a big black eye in the coming days. Police initially refused to identify whom Sorrentino was fighting but TMZ indicates that it was actually his brother Frank.

The tanning salon in which the fight broke out is owned by the Sorrentino family, and from initial rumors it seems that the two brothers got into an argument over how to run the business. From the looks of things, the argument quickly degenerated into a fist fight.

Last week, reports were coming in that the salon employees called the cops when their paychecks bounced. Though it's not known who is responsible for the paycheck debacle, it's very possible that this was the reason the brothers scuffled.

Mike “The Situation” later said that the incident was an innocent error since the tanning salon had changed payroll companies and that everything eventually turned out fine, and every employee was paid the due amount.

The two brothers began their argument online, on social media, with a string of messages that saw both of their personal cell phone numbers published on Twitter. Mike was the first to hit out with the message “Congrats bro, I'm all of these faces as I give out @frankiestylze my brothers #732497757 served up #al dente.”

His brother Frank, not wanting to be outdone, tweeted back Mike's number and later his rumored girlfriend's number: “Hey ladies, if you can't reach Mike, try calling Lauren I'm sure she can help you find him.”

All of the telephone numbers have since been disconnected, and now the brothers seem to have cooled their heels after things got physical. It's not known who won the fight. Despite his rather visible injuries, Mike was adamant that he was the one to win the knuckle fight.
