Midnight Mansion 1.1.3 fixes a nasty bug in Cathedral Towers Hard room 14099, but also adds a number of features, such as drag-and-drop support for mansion files, so you can double-click or drag-and-drop mansion files to open them with the editor or game. In Midnight Mansion, players step into the shoes of Jack Malone, who is on a quest to explore eight huge mansions, each filled with traps, puzzles and secrets. Your ultimate goal, according to the developer, is to find legendary treasures. "Midnight Mansion brings you intense action and exploration gaming with 32-bit graphics, original sound effects, and professional quality music," ActionSoft assures Mac users.
As soon as you advance through the first levels of the game, you will have to avoid zapper beams, dodge monsters and collect keys that give you access to new areas of each mansion. Think of it as a blend of Castlevania and Mario, if you will. Features include family-friendly gameplay, three difficulty levels, online high scores, multiple accounts so everyone in the family can keep track of their own progress, and a fully-featured mansion builder so you can make your own mansions. A "suspend game" feature lets players quit and resume at any time.
As noted above, Midnight Mansion 1.1.3 fixes a bug in Cathedral Towers Hard room 14099, where it was possible to get stuck if you fell in a certain area. The new drag-and-drop support for mansion files now allows players to open mansion files with the editor or game, by double-clicking on them, or using drag-and-drop. ActionSoft has provided release notes included with the game, with details on this particular feature.
Also new in version 1.1.3 is the command-arrow keyboard navigation of rooms to the editor. This ensures quick and easy movement between existing rooms. The game's version number is now featured at title screen.
Midnight Mansion 1.1.3 is a free update for existing users. The game costs $20 to buy. You can follow this link to either update to the latest version of the game or play the demo (two included levels).
NOTE: To upgrade from a prior version of Midnight Mansion, you will need to first open your old Midnight Mansion folder and drag the Custom Mansions folder to the desktop. Then drag your entire old Midnight Mansion folder to the trash, and put the latest version's Midnight Mansion folder in its place. Your saved games, high scores, and license file will not be lost. Lastly, drag your Custom Mansions folder back into your new Midnight Mansion folder, choosing to replace the one that's in there. Game updated and ready to go!
