Plastic doesn't normally make it into an air cooler, not counting the fan of course, but Scythe has decided to change things a bit this time.
For whatever reason, it topped the new Kotetsu (SCKTT-1000) tower cooler with a plastic plate.
And by “topped” I mean that Scythe placed a plastic plate on top of the two vertical fin stacks.
Said stacks receive heat from four 8 mm copper heatpipes and account for most of the weight (480 grams / 1.05 pounds).
Then there's the mirror-finished nickel-plated copper base, which passes the CPU heat to the heatpipes themselves.
The 130 x 58 x 160 mm / 5.11 x 2.28 x 6.29-inch item gets rid of the heat thanks to a 120 mm Falcom 120 fan (400 to 1,400 RPM, 79 CFM, max noise 28 dBA).
All modern CPU sockets are supported by the $35 / €26 item: AMD AM3, AM3+,FM1, FM2, FM2+, and Intel LGA2011/LGA115x/LGA775.
