The HTC Desire 610 is a mid-range Android smartphone that has yet to make its debut on the market. For those unfamiliar with the phone’s history, the device was officially introduced in Taiwan last month and is already available for pre-order in the UK, but we’re still waiting for its market release.

The Desire 610 and Desire 816 are two of HTC’s latest mid-range smartphones with which the Taiwanese handset maker is trying to increase its market share in strategic regions across the globe.

Both devices come with more than decent specs, but more importantly, they have been priced aggressively in various countries, which would suggest that HTC is ready to fight Samsung and LG, as well as other native OEMs in these emerging markets.

Well, after news that HTC might release a high-end Windows Phone 8.1 handset at Verizon Wireless very soon, @evleaks is back with yet another piece of information that might please the Big Red’s customers even more.

It appears that HTC and Verizon plan to launch the Desire 610 mid-range smartphone in the United States. No word if this will be exclusive to the Big Red or other carriers in the US will launch the smartphone as well.

We don’t have info on the price tag and exact release date either, but from what we have seen on other markets, the Desire 610 might be priced at around $300 (€220) - $350 (€255) outright, but it might be available for free on 2-year agreements.

The bad news is that HTC Desire 610 has been confirmed to arrive with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system out of the box, though the handset maker might backtrack on the initial statement and release it with KitKat onboard.

If that doesn’t happen, HTC will have to offer an upgrade to Android 4.4.2 KitKat for Desire 610 as soon as possible in order to boost its sales even more.

Other than that, the Desire 610 is more than a decent Android smartphone. It comes with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz.

In addition, the smartphone packs 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 128GB).

On the back, there’s an enhanced 8-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, while in the front, there’s a secondary 1.3-megapixel camera for video calls.

HTC Desire 610 supports LTE connectivity and sports a 4.7-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution.

The smartphone is likely to be available in multiple color options, including Black, White, Red, Gray and Green. Stay tuned for more updates on the Desire 610’s release in the US.
