“We'll have something new to share in early 2015”

Microsoft released the new Windows 10 Technical Preview build 9879 a couple of days ago, and in order to make the most of this occasion, the company has also shared a few more details about the upcoming operating system and its plans to improve the platform.

Windows 10 Technical Preview build 9879 is the third version of the new operating system, and according to Microsoft, it's also the last one to be released this year, so December won't bring any changes to users who registered for the Windows Insider Program.

Microsoft hasn't mentioned any reason as to why it decided to put on hold the update cycle for Windows 10 Technical Preview, but the company promises to come back in early 2015 with a big pack of improvements for those who are running the latest build of the operating system.

“This will be the last new build of the year for Windows Insiders, as we’ll be using the time over the holidays to continue making refinements both to the product and to our engineering system that we’re using to bring it to you,” it said.

“Keep sending us feedback, and we’ll keep working to build Windows 10 into something that you’ll love. We’ll have something new to share with you early in 2015, and don’t forget to check out Insider Hub to stay in touch.”

Windows Phone 10 Preview also expected

Microsoft says that Windows 10 will be again improved in early 2015, and although no specifics have been provided, it's expected to come together with the very first preview version of Windows Phone 10.

Company executives confirmed at the September 30 event, when they officially presented Windows 10 Technical Preview for the very first time, that a testing version for Windows Phone would also be introduced in early 2015, but again, no other details were provided.

Now it turns out that we're getting closer to a possible launch of a testing build that would allow Windows Phone users to see what's new in the upcoming operating system, even though it's pretty clear that this particular release would only be aimed at developers and more experienced users.

As for the release date of the final product, Windows Phone 10 is expected to see daylight in spring 2015, at about the same time as Windows 10, but it's not yet clear if Microsoft plans to introduce both platforms together or not. Either way, there's no doubt that early 2015 is going to be a very busy period for Microsoft and its users.
