The world's fastest-growing mobile operating system has evolved to version 6. Microsoft's latest edition of its mobile software platform is an integer part of the Redmond Company's efforts to include mobile capabilities across its core offerings.

"A work force that is both mobile and connected is becoming essential for business success," said Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft. "That's why we're integrating innovative mobile technologies into all our key products, with Windows Mobile as the centerpiece."

Windows Mobile 6 delivers enhanced functionality and Microsoft Office features, a replica of those available on the PC. In this regard, the Redmond Company revealed that mobile versions of Office Outlook, Office Word, Office Excel and Office PowerPoint will find their way onto Smartphones running the Microsoft mobile operating system. In this context, Windows Mobile 6 users will be able to read, edit and save Word documents and Excel spreadsheets and view PowerPoint presentations.

Microsoft revealed that Windows Mobile 6 will introduce improved security features. Additionally, the newest Microsoft mobile operating platform will also feature HTML capabilities, supporting live links to the Internet. Microsoft will also make available Windows Live services for Windows Mobile. Currently, Windows Mobile 6 is scheduled for worldwide shipping in the upcoming quarter of 2007.

"All Windows Mobile 6 powered devices include Direct Push Technology for up-to-date e-mail delivery and automatic synchronization of Outlook calendars, tasks and contacts through Microsoft Exchange Server. Windows Mobile 6 also offers a set of important device security and management features that include the capability to remotely wipe all data from a device should it be lost or stolen, helping ensure that confidential information remains that way," added Microsoft.
