The largest annual Microsoft conference for IT professionals and developers world-wide opened Sunday June 11th in Boston. Already at its 14th edition, Tech-Ed 2006 will be attended by over 11.000 clients, partners, journalists, IT analysts and Microsoft staff that have sold-out the conference for its five day duration.

A comprehensive set of long-term customer promises to IT professionals and developers was presented on the first day, containing solutions to manage complexity, achieve agility, protect information, control access, advance the business with IT solutions and amplify the impact on people.

"IT professionals are increasingly focused on reducing costs and gaining business advantage through strategic use of IT," said Bob Muglia, senior vice president of the Server and Tools Business - Microsoft. "The customer promises we're outlining today are a simple way to spell out what we're committed to on behalf of IT pros and developers, and the organizations they serve. We believe that these investment areas, coupled with our rich partner ecosystem, our wide-ranging community programs and knowledge resources, ultimately empower IT pros and developers to deliver measurable value to their organizations."

Bob Muglia presented a new Microsoft vision regarding the infrastructure of People-Ready Business and the end-to-end portfolios of IT products, technologies, services and resources. Starting this year Microsoft will also offer an online service through which visitors can view live updates of Tech-Ed 2006. Microsoft announced that a team of editors will sum up the main events, breakout sessions and demonstrations, making them available on VirtualTechEd.com.
