Fast ring users could get a new build very soon

Windows 10 build 10130 was released on Friday, but Microsoft is already working on a new version of the preview that could be launched for users in the coming weeks if development goes according to plan.

According to Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, the company is now internally testing Windows 10 build 10134 and “fast ring users may get this one too,” but he has refused to provide any specifics or details as to when this new version could be released.

He has, however, confirmed that build 10134 is running well on his HP Spectre x360, and if no major bugs are found in the meantime, this version should be released to everyone very soon.

All in on refinements

These days, Microsoft is mostly about fixing bugs and improving performance in Windows 10, so fewer new features are expected to be introduced in the next builds because the company is rather interested in refining the experience in the new operating system before the big launch this summer.

Gabe Aul has confirmed that “at this stage we’re mostly bug fixing and refining, so lots of little improvements to every build,” which means that the feature lineup we’re seeing in build 10130 is very similar to the one we’re going to get when RTM is reached later this year.

Microsoft has said that Windows 10 should be ready during the summer, but no specifics have been provided until now, and yet, thanks to people close to the development plans, we already know when the new operating system should land in stores.

Windows 10 RTM should be ready in June or July if everything goes well, and the public launch could take place in late July or August. The operating system could hit the shelves in late August, but computers running Windows 7 or 8.1 could get it a bit sooner thanks to the free upgrade offer that Microsoft already announced in January.

Windows Insiders are also expected to get the upgrade to the final version of Windows 10 sooner, but this release schedule is yet to be confirmed by Microsoft itself.
