A Facebook post from March 23 stated that Aaron Woodman, director for Consumer Experiences for Windows Mobile, would be answering questions that users had regarding the future of the company's mobile operating system, yet the answers to the inquiries users issued on the Windows Mobile 6.5 or on the applications and technologies the company intended to include with the platform were posted only a few days ago.

Fortunately, the Windows Mobile team has confirmed some of the rumors that were cycling on the web regarding the platform, besides the officially announced Marketplace for Windows Mobile support, which is expected to come in the second quarter of the ongoing year along with Windows Mobile 6.5 and mobile phones that will support the OS.

Silverlight will indeed come to the Windows Mobile platform, says Aaron Woodman, though he doesn't specify the version of the OS that will include the technology. Previous reports showed that, while WM 6.5 wouldn't include Silverlight, Windows Mobile 7 would most likely do. At the same time, future releases of WM are also expected to include support for flash.

When it comes to the mobile phones that will sport the WinMO 6.5 OS, Aaron Woodman states the following: “The only current phones that have been targeted for official upgrades to Windows Mobile 6.5 are the HTC Touch Pro2 and the HTC Touch Diamond Pro2.” At the same time, he also adds that OEMs and mobile phone operators will be those to decide whether other handsets are also eligible for upgrade to the upcoming OS or not.

In addition, is seems that Microsoft is working on the development of an official Facebook client for Windows Mobile, and that the application should become available in the next 4 - 6 weeks on WindowsMobile.com for free, though Twitter won't receive a dedicated software solution. One other thing that is certain is that the Windows Mobile team is “constantly evaluating what they should be updating.” You can read the Facebook posts here.
