If you’re using a Surface Pro 2 tablet right now and you’re wondering why your Internet connection is very slow at random times, you could try removing all your Bluetooth devices and connect to Wi-Fi again.

It turns out that a Bluetooth bug is causing Surface Pro 2 tablets to be extremely slow when browsing the web via Wi-Fi and, although some users have already suggested a number of workarounds until now, none seems to successfully address these issues.

According to some Microsoft representatives, this issue is only affecting a limited number of Surface Pro 2 tablets, but judging by the number of posts on the company’s Community forums, quite a lot of devices might suffer from the safe issue.

“A limited number of Surface Pro 2 customers may be experiencing interrupted connectivity with Bluetooth peripherals. We are looking into the situation and working on a resolution,” a member of the Surface team explained.

Here’s what one of the users explained in a post published yesterday on the forums:

“I have the same issue with internet streaming blocking when I have my Bluetooth headphones connected. They work perfectly for listening to downloaded files on my Surface 2 Pro 512GB but the minute I use Skype, YouTube, or any internet streaming audio/video the Wi-Fi connection seems to block or work only sporadically. As soon as I disconnect the Bluetooth headphones the internet streaming on Wi-Fi goes back to normal.”

No full fix is available right now and the issue appears to be experienced with any kind of Bluetooth device, including mice, headsets, or any other peripherals.

Of course, these problems led to frustration among customers who paid quite a lot of money for the Surface Pro 2, with some claiming that they might switch to a different tablet maker if the software giant does not address this problem soon.

If you’re wondering, the cheapest Surface Pro 2 tablet has a price tag of $899 (€650) and runs Windows 8.1 Pro, features 4 GB of RAM and full HD 10.6-inch display. The device also comes with a 4th generation Intel Core i5 processor under the hood, but also with Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n) and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity.

At the opposite pole, there’s the top-of-the-line Surface Pro 2 with 512 GB that retails for $1799 (€1300) and has the same technical specifications, but has 8 GB of RAM for enhanced performance and faster loading times for apps and games.
