Microsoft has just started a brand new program for Xbox Live subscribers, entitled Xbox Live Rewards, which automatically adds precious Microsoft Points to your account for different actions.

In order to keep people subscribed to Xbox Live, specifically with the paid Gold subscription, Microsoft has just kicked off a special loyalty program that will add Microsoft Points, the company's own virtual money, to the accounts of Xbox 360 owners.

Basically, if you want to rack up some extra points, you need to opt into the program and then complete some of the tasks highlighted by Microsoft in the chart pictured above.

More specifically, if you partake in different surveys, purchase special content from the Xbox Live Marketplace, pay for a Gold subscription for Xbox Live and do other special things, your account will receive free Microsoft Points, depending on your own type of subscription, either Free (formerly known as Silver) or Gold.

Xbox Live users that opt into this program and complete actions will see Points added to the account, and they can redeem them through the web interface at Xbox.com.

Overall, these are some pretty sweet deals, especially if you always find yourself aching for some more points in order to get the downloadable content or other items found on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

As of right now, the Xbox Live Rewards program is just open to residents from the United States of America and the United Kingdom, but expect Microsoft to roll it out in other countries, as the Xbox Live service is expanding left and right these days, appearing in many other territories, all over the world.

If you are in the aforementioned countries, you can opt into the new Xbox Live Rewards program by going to this website.

Will you be taking advantage of these rewards or should Microsoft enhance their prizes in order to really draw in Xbox Live subscribers?
