It features clear plastic on the front, so that users can see its internals

Last year, Microsoft made official its Arc Touch Mouse, which marked a change in the manner in which users could use the small piece of hardware for their daily work, through replacing the traditional scroll wheel with a strip featuring touch capabilities.

The company has been also working on another Arc Touch Mouse version, and has just unveiled to the world a prototype of this device, featuring the same touch capabilities as the original, and the bending features, for easy storage and carrying.

The mouse sports BlueTrack Technology, which eliminates the need of a mouse pad, and also features haptic feedback when using the Touch strip.

Brandon LeBlanc explains in a recent blog post that this is a never-before-seen prototype Arc Touch Mouse, and that it comes straight from Microsoft Hardware

One of the appealing features of the new device is the fact that users can actually look inside it and see the components.

“This prototype Arc Touch Mouse is made with a clear plastic at the front (where the Touch strip and buttons are) where you can see all the electronics inside that power this mouse. That’s right – you can see the insides of the mouse!” LeBlac notes.

But this is not all, as the prototype mouse also sports a clear rubber material that covers the part of the device that bends.

It should offer the same sensation as the material that was packed with the previously released version of the Arc Touch Mouse, only that it is clear.

“On the “bendy” section of the mouse grease is used to aid in the “bendy-ness”. Because this special Arc Touch Mouse is clear, it shows a dark/black “smudge” if you look close (I barely see it on mine!),” Brandon LeBlanc continues.

One thing that should be noted is that this special prototype Arc Touch Mouse was never released to the market. Only a limited number of units were produced, all available only internally.

“As I’ve mentioned previously, the Arc Touch Mouse is my favorite mouse to use when I’m out-and-about and on the road because I can bend it flat and easily store it,” LeBlanc notes.
