The first Beta development milestone of Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0 continues to be available for download, even at this point in time. The Redmond company announced the debut of the Beta testing process for the next generation of Microsoft Security Essentials almost a week ago. At that time, the software giant also emphasized that the Beta program available through Microsoft Connect was going to be limited, and that after a sufficient number of testers would sign up, no additional participants would be permitted to access the Beta bits.

Users that haven’t managed to grab Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0 Beta yet, can still do so, provided they own a valid Windows Live ID. At the same time, Microsoft seems to have dealt with some issues which initially prevented early adopters from getting the best possible experience when it came down to downloading Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0 Beta Build 2.0.0375.0.

“We are aware that some users are having issues downloading the Microsoft Security Essentials beta after signing into Microsoft Connect and we are working on resolving the issue. In the meantime, you can use the file transfer manager within Microsoft Connect to download the beta files. After logging into the Microsoft Connect site for the Microsoft Security Essentials beta, click ‘Download Microsoft Security Essentials Beta’, select the version of Microsoft Security Essentials beta that is right for you (32 or 64 bit), and then click the Download button (Download selected file(s) using FTM),” revealed Brandon LeBlanc, Windows Communications Manager on the Windows Client Communications Team.

Version 2.0 of Microsoft Security Essentials, obviously designed to replace v1.0, introduces a consistent level of evolution for the free security solution the Redmond company is offering users. Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0 brings to the table improvements such as Windows Firewall integration, enhanced protection from web-based threats, and a new and improved protection engine.
