Microsoft has released a statement over the weekend concerning the PlayStation Network outage, and how the company is sad about the problems of the PlayStation 3, while confirming that its Xbox Live service is fully working.

PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable owners have been experiencing major problems in the last six days, as the PlayStation Network online service has been completely offline.

The company has been saying over the weekend that the problems are being fixed, but that it can't really state when things are back to normal.

As you can imagine, Microsoft, one of the Sony's major rivals, was asked to comment on the issue by ElectronicTheatre.

The North American company revealed that it is sad that PS3 and PSP owners are affected by the outage, but added that its Xbox Live online service is completely fine and fully functional.

“Of course it’s regretful that Sony is encountering issues at such a busy time, and Microsoft takes no joy in the problems gamers are having playing their favorite games online,” stated the Microsoft representative. “That being said, we are expecting Microsoft’s robust online network to see an increase of traffic from those gamers who own both systems.”

The PlayStation Network outage couldn't have arrived at a worse time for Sony, as two online-heavy games, Portal 2 and Mortal Kombat, were released last week, while many gamers were eagerly awaiting Easter weekend to spend some time playing with their friends.

Microsoft, on the other hand, was eager to draw in new gamers, and held a special Xbox Nations event, which consisted of free Gold access for European users, and even a world record attempt in Kinect Sports.

Did the PlayStation Network outage force you to play on other platforms like the Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii, or are you still waiting until Sony finally fixes all of its problems and gets it back online?
