While the initial plans of the Redmond Company involved June 6 as RTM date for Windows Media Player 11 for XP, the company's schedules have been updated and the RTM pushed back for September 14. In this context, Microsoft has released on August 31 the second beta version of the multimedia software designed to integrate with all versions of the Windows XP Service Pack 2 operating system.

With Windows Media Player 11 Beta 2, Microsoft has introduced new minor features, while the product is similar in general to the former beta version. Beta 2's predecessors permitted users direct access to a plethora of 11 music services providers and the Redmond Company has integrated VidZone, eMusic, and Music Giants online music stored in the list.

Microsoft has added Media Sharing capabilities in the Windows Media Player 11 Beta 2. The additional feature makes the contents of the multimedia software library available from various locations in the user's home. Networked devices can have the library content streamed to them via a wired or wireless home network. "For example, if you have an Xbox 360 or other digital media receiver (DMR), you can use Windows Media Player to stream music, pictures, and videos from your computer to that device. This even works with music that you've downloaded from PlaysForSure music stores and services. For more information, see Digital Media at Home," stated Microsoft.

Windows Media Player 11 Beta 2 has been tested by Softpedia as being 100% Free and is available for download here.
