The second Beta of the Windows OneCare Live security suite has been published by Microsoft via the Windows Live Ideas. The OneCare solution is a collection of applications meant to improve the security systems and create backups, while also offering tech support options. All of these are available to Windows users on a subscription basis.

This second beta includes new features such as the possibility to create backups to external hard drives and the ability to enable right-click scans of files and folders. It also enables integration with Microsoft Update, and diagnosis upon installation of potential conflicts between the software installed and the Windows OneCare.

One of the main problems users were facing with firewalls was they were supposed to make security decisions based on very scarce information provided by the firewall itself. This means the user has a hard time identifying every single process running on its system. This problem is solved with the OneCare firewall, which will offer users easy-to-read publisher, location, company, and version numbers of executables it doesn't recognize.
