Businesses increasingly adopting Two-Tier ERP apps strategies have catalyzed the creation of a new offering from Microsoft, designed to bridge Dynamics ERP and the SAP Business Suite. The Redmond company noted that the new Dynamics ERP Two-Tier Connector for SAP Business Suite was necessary in the context in which more and more organizations were opting for both Microsoft Dynamics AX and the SAP Business Suite, rather than the traditional single instance deployments.

With the new connector, companies will be able to keep their current SAP installations in place, while also taking advantage of Dynamics AX for their subsidiaries, divisions or branches. According to the software giant, the offering is key to business process integration between the enterprise resource planning solutions from Microsoft and SAP.

“Organizations seeking to streamline their processes and technology should consider a two-tier ERP strategy,” Crispin Read, general manager of Microsoft Dynamics ERP at Microsoft, explained. “With the shifting market landscape, Microsoft is providing a simple and innovative approach to customers by providing them with a cost-effective alternative to the limitations associated with forcing a single enterprise solution across their entire business.”

Microsoft cited data from Altimeter Group in order to explain the creation of the Dynamics ERP Two-Tier Connector for SAP Business Suite. In the Software Insider’s Point of View survey, the Altimeter Group concluded that no less than 32% of business leaders were considering two-tier ERP applications strategies, moving away from single application deployments. The Redmond company emphasizes that the connector supports financial consolidation, intercompany supply-chain integration and plant automation as common business process integration scenarios.

“Many Microsoft customers are seeing increased measurable success by implementing a two-tier strategy using Microsoft Dynamics ERP as an alternative to a traditional monolithic deployment across their divisions or subsidiaries,” John Scandar, senior vice president at FullScope Inc., a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, added.
