Microsoft has re-issued no less than three Windows SideShow downloads this week, after it managed to resolve a bug in one of the releases. As of January 20, 2009, fresh versions of Windows SideShow Managed API 1.0 SDK, Windows SideShow Managed Runtime 1.0, and Windows SideShow for Windows Mobile Developer Preview are available via the Microsoft Download Center.

[ADMARk=1]“A bug has surfaced in the Windows SideShow for Windows Mobile Developer Preview that causes the software to prematurely report that the beta period has expired and to go online to download the RTM version. The download has been temporarily pulled, and a fixed version will be posted as soon as possible,” Toby Muresianu, program manager, Windows SideShow, revealed at the start of 2009. “Apologies for the inconvenience, and thank you very much for your patience.”

The latest versions of the Windows SideShow Software Development Kit, Runtime and Mobile Developer Preview are now live and bug free. According to Microsoft, all the Windows SideShow downloads are designed to integrate with Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista, but not with Windows 7.

“The Windows SideShow for Windows Mobile Developer Preview, which was prematurely showing a notification that the beta had expired, has been fixed and is now available [for download]. As with the previous release, this version may not work when paired with systems running the Windows 7 beta. Thank you for your patience and hope you enjoy the release,” Muresianu added.

Windows SideShow for Windows Mobile Developer Preview is designed to integrate with PocketPCs and Smartphones running Windows Mobile 5 and 6. The application will permit users to transform their mobile hardware into Bluetooth SideShow devices. At the same time, the Windows SideShow Managed Runtime 1.0 permits gadgets for Windows SideShow to be run in managed code, while the Windows SideShow Managed API 1.0 SDK is designed so developers can built gadgets for Windows SideShow in managed code and via the Microsoft .NET Framework.
