14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft is offering a free resource designed to help customers keep track of the games in the 2011 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Throwing Outlook users a free “assist,” the software giant has put together a new calendar designed to help them dribble their way through March Madness without missing anything.
Customers running the Outlook email client can easily subscribe to the March Madness Outlook calendar and easily keep track of the 2011 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament games as they unfold.
“This time of year means one thing for basketball lovers—March Madness. The NCAA men’s basketball championship tournament tradition has fans watching games in their cubicles, razzing their rivals and predicting bracket outcomes,” revealed a member of the Office team.
“Microsoft Office takes the guesswork out of the March Madness schedule by making it simple to track matches and game locations in your Outlook calendar. All you have to do is subscribe to the March Madness calendar to put all 67 games into your calendar today.”
Office customers with either Office 2007 or Office 2010 will be able to subscribe to this calendar, the Redmond company revealed. However, the same is not valid for those still leveraging versions of the email client that preceded Outlook 2007.
For non-US Outlook users, March Madness is a series of sporting events involving no less than 68 college basketball teams, organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA.)
Basketball fans in the US also refer to March Madness as the Big Dance, with the Final Four, namely the semi-finals and the final considered the apex of the tournament.
“Managing the madness doesn’t end in March. Want to create your own calendar for the little league team to share with parents and friends?” the Office team member asked.
“Use Outlook 2007 or 2010 to create a shared calendar on Office.com and allow friends to subscribe. Once they subscribe, they will receive updates in programs such as Outlook, Windows Live Calendar, Google Calendar, or Apple iCal.”
