Support for Rooms should have ended back in March

Many of you probably remember that Microsoft announced back in February that it would end support for Rooms sometime in March.

However, it looks like the company silently pushed the ending date further since Rooms is still available for Windows Phone users.

According to Microsoft, Rooms will be discontinued in June 2015, so you will still be able to use the application until then.

The Redmond-based company recently started to send emails to Windows Phone users where they confirm the new timeframe for when it will end Rooms support.

“You may previously have received an email from Windows Phone or seen news about the rooms feature for Windows Phone being discontinued soon. While we decided to keep it around a little longer than we'd originally planned, support for rooms will end in June 2015.

“Once support ends, you'll still be able to view and use your room photo albums, calendars, and notes – but you will no longer be able to create new rooms or have access to chats.”

You will still be able to see Rooms after the feature is discontinued

Keep in mind that those who own Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 devices will still be able to see their existing rooms on their handsets.

In addition, they will be able to use their room photo albums, calendars and notes on their phones, but they won't be able to create new rooms or make membership or permission changes to existing rooms.

On the other hand, those who decide to update to Windows 10 Mobile Technical Preview will no longer see rooms on their smartphones.

However, they will still be able to get to their photo albums, calendars and notes via Web or by simply using other applications on their phones.

So, that being said, make sure you save a copy of the important info in your room chats that you want to keep, before updating to Windows 10 Mobile.
