Two Microsoft experts are the hosts of a new podcast series dedicated to helping small- and medium-sized businesses adopt new technology. The new “Point and Click — The IT Investigators” team is formed by Microsoft’s very own Matt Hester and Keith Combs, and the show was launched on the Microsoft News Center’s Small- and Medium-Sized Business virtual press kit on May 26. Hester and Combs, among the Redmond company’s most prominent bloggers, are engaging SMBs in talk-radio-type shows, with new episodes scheduled to be released every couple of weeks.

“The goal is education — it’s to create a conversation about technology and educate customers about how it applies to a business, whether small or medium-sized,” Combs stated, while Hester added, “I’m very passionate about the newest cool thing in technology. But that technology has to be of use, or people aren’t going to take advantage of it. I want to help people understand how cool new things can help a company make money.”

On “Point and Click,” Combs and Hester will talk to business owners as well as Microsoft partners and Microsoft business experts in unscripted interviews. With each new show, the “Point and Click” duo will aim to tackle specific issues faced by SMBs and offer solutions through technology. The inaugural program, for example, was focused on remote worker scenarios.

However, there will be additional topics of discussion on “Point and Click.” Microsoft indicated Cloud computing as one of the new technologies SMBs might not fully understand yet, let alone be ready to adopt. “Right now a lot of small and medium-sized businesses look at that and don’t see the application,” Hester explained. “But anybody can take advantage of this technology, and we want to show them how.”
