Microsoft continues to launch some of its most important apps and services on Android and iOS platforms in an attempt to steal customers from the most popular mobile operating systems available on the market.

The latest application that makes the jump to Android is Office Lens. Although for the time being Office Lens for Android is only available as a preview, it's clear that Microsoft will eventually release the application in Google Play Store when it's ready.

Before going through the list of features included in Office Lens for Android, let's see what you need to do in order to get into the preview program because the application is not yet available in Google Play store.

So, the first thing you need to do is head to Office Lens Android Preview in the Google+ community, clink “Join community” in the upper right-hand corner, and then under “About this community,” click the “Become a Tester” link. Simply follow the instructions on the page and you should be able to get the app.

The app is already available on iOS and Windows Phone platforms

Office Lens for Android allows users to identify printed text with optical character recognition (OCR). This means that you will be able to search by key word for the image in OneNote or OneDrive.

The application can also convert images of paper documents and whiteboard notes into Word documents, PowerPoint presentations and PDF files.

It also captures business cards and generates contacts that users can then add to their phones. Office Lens also inserts images to OneNote and OneDrive and allows users to save, export and share these images.

Office Lens is already available on Windows Phone, so with the addition of Android and iOS, Microsoft's application is now present on top 3 most popular mobile platforms in the world.
