14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft has just released another Facebook application for Windows Phone devices, different from the official app that has been listed on Windows Phone Store for quite some time.
The new Facebook for Windows Phone application is still a work in progress and is meant to improve the full version that is now available for download for devices powered by Windows Phone 7.5 and up.
According to developers, this Facebook beta app acts like a “new program designed to help speed up delivery of new features in the official Facebook app for Windows Phone.”
This is why Microsoft is looking for “sharp-eyed, energetic volunteers to download a beta version of our next release and tell us how to make it better.”
Given the fact that the application is in its early stages of development, expect some crashes or lags. Users of the beta application are strongly recommended to provide feedback, so that all the issues can be identified and addressed.
Those who have decided to try Facebook for Windows Phone beta will notice that the application is undergoing a major design. In addition, it comes with several new features that are not yet available in the official app.
Thus, Microsoft mentions there’s new support for high-res photos, Facebook Timeline and post sharing.
In order to provide feedback and pass along bug reports, feature requests and other useful suggestions, simply go to Settings/ About directly in the application. Obviously, users can also post their thoughts on the Store.
Keep in mind that in order to avoid confusion with the official app, the beta version will not show on the Windows Phone Store when searched for within the phone or desktop browser.
Facebook Beta 5.0.1.0 is now available as a free download via Windows Phone Store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Windows Phone 8 and up. Check it out here.
