Leaked screenshots show that hamburgers no longer exist

Microsoft is working to release a new Windows 10 for phones build that would allow more users to try out the upcoming operating system on more Lumia models, and as my colleague Cosmin Vasile reported to you a few hours ago, some leaked screenshots seem to be confirm that the release of a new build is imminent.

While these screenshots indeed show that Microsoft is working to add some new features for phones running Windows 10, they also reveal something that could be just as important as that for Windows Phone users: the hamburger menu could go away in the final version of the OS.

The hamburger button is nowhere to be seen in these screenshots and that's definitely a good thing for Windows Phone fans who hoped to get an experience that's not in any way inspired by Android.

Many accused the company of copying Android as far as the hamburger-style button is concerned, and this is living proof that Redmond is actually listening to user feedback. Of course, all of these changes are still made to an early UI of the operating system, so more improvements and tweaks are expected until Windows 10 is ready.

Inspired by user concept?

What's also very interesting is that this new Windows 10 for phones preview UI seems to be inspired by a concept created by Matthew Langdon and published online a few weeks ago.

The lower menu and icons do look similar, although the layout overall seems to be different, so one could wonder whether Microsoft indeed used this concept as source of inspiration for the new UI.

And that's not at all a bad thing. Gabe Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, has recently said that Microsoft is definitely checking out all Windows 10 concepts, pretty much because users come up with really fresh and good ideas for the new OS, so every time there's something useful that could be implemented, the company will try to make it available for all users.
