Dane Glasgow, general manager for Live Search is just the latest Microsoft Search executive to announce that he is leaving the Redmond Company. There are still shock waves reverberating through Microsoft's Search division and by the latest signs the shake-ups are by no means done. Glasgow is one of the executives that were transitioned out from under Senior Vice President Steven Sinofsky and to the Live Search and Ad Platform, with Satya Nadella as head.

Glasgow offered no reason for his departure from Microsoft, but the official position is that he will dedicate his time to nonprofit work and to his family. "With the Search team's exit from planning complete, Dane Glasgow has decided to leave Microsoft to pursue non-profit interests and spend time with his family before taking on a new entrepreneurial challenge. Dane has worked in the services business at Microsoft for nearly 8 years, joining the company in 1999 through the acquisition of Jump Networks. During his time at Microsoft, Dane has worked on large scale services like Hotmail and Search as well as clients such as our Toolbar and Gadgets platform," reads a fragment of a note authored by Nadella as cited by Mary Jo Foley.

In his eight years with the Redmond Company, Glasgow contributed to the release of the Windows Desktop Search and was also involved in the initial release of Windows Live. Nadella did not announce Glasgow's successor, as his replacement has not been decided yet. Microsoft officially confirmed Glasgow's departure from Microsoft but stated that the company's search effort will go on just as strong.
