Just for Windows XP Professional

Microsoft has absolutely no plans to permit end users running pirated copies of Windows Vista to turn them into genuine operating systems. But this not to say that the future might not bring such an initiative to the table. The Redmond company provided two updated resources focused exclusively on Windows XP Professional designed to bridge the gap between a pirated and a genuine product, while allowing users to enter legality. In this sense, Get Genuine Windows Agreement FAQ - Customers and Get Genuine Kit - Resellers are both available for download.

"The most cost-effective way to acquire Windows software is preinstalled on a new PC. However, more customers are becoming aware that they are running non-genuine Windows XP Professional on their PCs. The Get Genuine Kit gives you a cost-effective solution to help them get legal, deepen your customer relationship, and be there as a trusted advisor. The Get Genuine Kit is designed for use on fully assembled PCs with a previously installed counterfeit, pirated, or otherwise illegal or unlicensed copy of Windows XP Professional software", reads a fragment of the document dealing with the Microsoft Get Genuine Kit for Windows XP.

Windows Vista, despite of the advances introduced by Microsoft in terms of the anti-piracy platform, is still a victim of the piracy phenomenon. And yet, while the company delivered the Get Genuine Windows Agreement on top of the Get Genuine Kit, for Volume Licensing customers, Windows XP Professional still took center-stage. At this point in time, the two types of Get Genuine Windows Agreements - GGWA for Small and Medium Organizations, and GGWA for Large Organizations - only permit pirated copies of XP to become genuine. "Microsoft currently has no plans yet for a Windows Vista version of the GGWA; we will be considering this in our next planning phase," the company revealed in the Get Genuine Windows Agreement FAQs.
