At the forth annual edition of the Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival (EIEF06) debuting in August, Microsoft's participation was confirmed as a major sponsor, the Redmond company joining this way other heavy-weights of the industry that act as financial bankers for this event: Sony, Nintendo, Future and Scottish Enterprise.

"EIEF is an important event in the UK video games calendar and we are delighted to be participating for a fourth year. EIEF is both entertaining and informative and, what we particularly like, is that the festival focuses on the future of the interactive entertainment industry and how we, as an industry, can shape that future", said Stephen McGill, Head of Xbox UK Marketing, Microsoft.

"The presence of Microsoft with the Xbox brand is an important part of the Edinburgh Festival. Microsoft has been a staunch supporter of EIEF since its inception and always brings a new and exciting element to the event", said Chris Deering, EIEF06 Chairman.

EIEF is an event that concentrates the interactive entertainment industry with brands such as Nintendo, Play Station and X box in an environment where creative innovations and future trends can be closely analyzed. The festival will commence with a series of conferences on 21th and 22nd August dedicated to creating an atmosphere of interaction between the gamers community and the video games producers. The conferences will be followed by game screenings and the Edge Award meant to reward certain games that have reached a new standard of excellence and quality.
