The theme isn’t enabled, so registry tweaks are needed

Windows 10 build 10135 got leaked during the weekend, and many have rushed to download it, despite the warning coming out of the Redmond headquarters and recommending everyone to stay away from such builds because of the increased risks of bugs and major issues.

Despite the fact that Microsoft Edge was expected to finally make its first appearance with the new name in this build, Project Spartan continues to be offered, so Microsoft might need more time to complete the rebranding process for the new browser.

The good news is that Project Spartan now comes with a dark theme that brings the browser in line with the rest of the operating system, which also received a dark visual style for the Start menu and the taskbar.

Not enabled by default

And yet, if you download and install build 10135, you will notice that Project Spartan comes with the exact same interface as in the previous builds, so no sign of dark theme.

In fact, the dark theme is not turned on by default, and a little registry hack is needed to enable it and give it a shot in build 10135. The dark look, however, still needs more refinements and doesn’t seem to be complete, so this could be the reason Microsoft decided to keep it locked for the time being.

Find out here how to enable the dark theme in Microsoft Edge in Windows 10 build 10135.

Microsoft Edge will be the default browser in Windows 10 but will be offered alongside Internet Explorer to tackle any compatibility issue that might arise because of the new browsing engine. Internet Explorer will be available via the Start menu and Edge will be pinned to taskbar, but the new browser will also be offered across all devices running Windows 10, including PCs and tablets.

Support for extensions will also be added in Microsoft Edge in a future update, most likely in late 2015, when Microsoft is expected to roll out the first major set of improvements for Windows 10.
