A new edition collection of peripherals from Microsoft is designed to put works of art at the users’ fingertips. The Redmond company just announced the Microsoft Studio Series Artist Edition, offering customers upgraded Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 designs.

According to the software giant, artists from around the world were tapped for the creation of new graphics for the Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500.

Kirra Jamison (Melbourne, AU), Matt Moore (Portland, ME), Linn Olofsdotter (Portland, OR by way of Sweden), Mike Perry (Brooklyn, NY), Jonny Wan (Sheffield, UK) were commissioned by Microsoft to produce artwork for the new Artist Studio Series.

“This project has long been a dream of the Microsoft Hardware Design team. We’ve had a running list of favorite artists and illustrators going for month before we kicked off the project—names we discovered through gallery shows, print graphics, fashion & lifestyle collaborations, and design blogs,” revealed Lindsey Kujawski, User Experience Designer.

“We were thrilled that these amazing artists were up for the collaboration. We gave them the mouse as their blank canvas and let them unleash their artistic style. The result is a diverse and expressive collection.”

Users will still need to exercise their patience a bit longer before they’ll actually be able to buy the new peripherals.

According to the Redmond company the Artist Studio Series for the Wireless Mobile Mouse 350 devices will go on sale in June 2011.

Despite the added artwork, the new mice will not be all that expensive, with the Redmond company estimating a retail price of $29.95.

“The Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 Studio Series — Artist Edition is a brand new collection of Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500 graphics, designed by five premier artists from around the world,” the company added.

“Their diverse range of styles and perspectives are showcased in six different patterns, which form an exciting and fresh collection.”

Microsoft has even set up the Artist Edition website, a hub dedicated to the new collection of peripherals where customers can get a better look at the products.
